The process of growth can begin to dredge deep into us uprooting a whirlwind of emotions that we are in the process of evaluating and weeding out of our lives in order to make room for our personal, physical and spiritual growth.
In the traditional science of Yoga we call this Tapas; purification. Tapas is also related to agni which means internal fire of purification. You enter the flames, burn away what no longer serves you in life (purification) and emerge a fresh version of yourself.
Lately, this has brought forth lots of grief and fear for me. Grief of letting go of old beliefs and fear of what I will be after these things are gone from my life. To cope with this I have incorporate one of Baron Baptiste’s “Twelve Laws of Personal Transformation” into my practice. The 2nd law states: “Be willing to come apart.”
With this mantra in my heart I can practice entering into the fires of purification and letting go of all the things that are burning away in order to purify, cleanse and grow. Knowing it is ok to come apart as these things burn away making space for me to find growth.
